History of the Show
THE EGG
The show started life at The Watermill Theatre, Newbury on 11 December 1993 and was originally called 'The Ugly Duckling or the Aesthetically Challenged Farmyard Fowl'. Alison Jiear starred as Ida.
THE UGLY DUCKLING
A revised version opened on 28 November 1997
at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough.
THE TRANSFORMATION
The London premiere was in November
at the Landor Theatre, Clapham with Graham Hubbard as Ugly
THE SWAN
The National Theatre production of Honk! which ran in rep from 11 December 1999 to 25 March 2000 was the first original British musical ever to be produced there and rewarded the production team and cast with the 2000 Olivier for Best New Musical.Click here for a selection of the reviews from the National Theatre Production
